Rodrigo Corts could easily be the next great suspense writer and director, following in the footsteps of the legendary Alfred Hitchcock. He is young and multi-talented, bring a fresh perspective to Hollywood and the horror / suspense genre.

Born in 1973 in Spain, Corts made his first big splash in the American movie scene with the full-length feature film Buried, starting Ryan Reynolds. Previous work includes a number of Spanish movies, including the full-length film The Contestant (Concursante, original Spanish title). He has also notably written and directed a number of shorts, including Yul, 15 Days, Dentro, and Dirt Devil.

Corts has been met with critical acclaim, having been nominated and winning a number of awards for both his short films and full-length films. In 1999 Yul won Best Short Film at the Pescola Comedy Film Festival. 15 Days, in 2000, won at two at two festivals, the Alcal de Henares Short Film Festival and Ourense Independent Film Festival. The Contestant won the Critics Award in 2007 at the Mlaga Spanish Film Festival.

His next psychological thriller, Red Lights, which stars Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver, is currently in post production and is set to be released in 2012.

The feature film Animated Toy Story 3 is an awesome example of creativity at work. And not only is the story line incredible, entertaining, and engaging it is made for the family. How wonderful it is to see a film produced that every family member from mutigenerations can literally watch and enjoy together. The familiar music, the amazing graphics and the high tech features make Toy Story three a perfect candidate to win Best Picture at the Oscars. It is so nice to watch a film and walk away feeling entertained and a little bit lighter about the world. For other films you may enjoy check out my favorite movies review site, www.christiananswers.net and learn more about family friendly films you will feel good about watching. We need to support the movie industry when they design and make films for kids and adults that actually bring the two together. What a gift it is for a busy world that has no time pause and have fun with each other to do so thanks to a movie. This film truly deserves to win Best Picture not only for the amazing content and way it is made, but for the sheer fact it has impacted all hearts and any person from any part of the world will love this story.

Two-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep is currently filming “The Iron Lady,” a biopic in which she plays the former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. Phyllida Lloyd, the film’s director, is reteaming up with Streep whom she directed in the musical “Mamma Mia!”

Thatcher, who is currently 85 years old, will see Streep, 61, play her as the Prime Minister during the 17 days leading up to the Falkland War. Taking a cue from “The Queen,” a highly acclaimed film portraying a small period of time in Queen Elizabeth’s life, the movie will use the limited time frame to convey the character, strength and weaknesses of England’s most famous female politician.

Streep, who is no stranger to playing real life women including Julia Child and union activist Karen Silkwood, is thrilled to be playing the part. According the movie’s official blog Meryl said, “The prospect of exploring the swathe cut through history by this remarkable woman is a daunting and exciting challenge,” she also added, “I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervor and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses – I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own!”

Any list of the best movies, most attended movies, or highest grossing movies over the last few years is sure to include at least a few animated films. For decades, Disney has consistently brought quality animation to the big screen, giving parents a movie they can take their children to see. But recently, there seems to have been a shift in the nature of animated movies. While, these were once films made primarily for young children, animated movies today attract all audiences. There seem to be a number of plausible explanations for this paradigm shift. The advancements in graphic art and animation techniques are very appealing to film makers, allowing them to experiment with a range of new art forms. Because these graphics are so impressive, film makers are being more and more tempted to explore mature subjects with animation such as in hit movies Avatar and Up.Another plausible theory for the recent storming of animation on to the scene is the current economic state. Though animation is reaching into different genres, these films are still primarily about light-hearted and happy topics. With thousands of people losing jobs and taking pay cuts, most people want to go to the theater as an escape from the financial troubles surrounding them. If you have a choice between a dark, depressing film and a bright, colorful, animated one, the latter is likely to win.A final explanation behind the abundance of these movies is closely tied to another current trend. There is a large presence of books turned movies in Hollywood right now, and this facilitates more animation because many of these bestsellers were children’s novels or comic books. Classic books such as these have a commonality amongst all ages, because most of us probably read or were read these books at some point in our life. Then again, maybe it’s all just pure coincidence.

The young, porcelain-skinned Carey Mulligan is starting to turn heads in Hollywood. Starring in the 2009 hit, An Education, the young British actress delivered a stellar performance in the coming-of-age film, based on the memoir of Lynn Barber. Mulligan plays the role of Jenny Mellor, a teenager girl who falls in love with an older man. His luxurious lifestyle and trip to Paris sweep her off her feet and the two become engaged, much to the dismay of her feminist teachers. A twist in the story take the audience along a journey of love, hard lessons learned, and the pain that comes with growing up, all beautifully executed by the talented Mulligan.Prior to this breakout performance, the 25-year-old British star had a role in the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice, along with a number of television shows. Mulligan is hitting the screen again in September with the release of the sequel to the 1987 film Wall Street. In the 2010 version, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Mulligan plays the role of Winnie Gekko, the daughter of financial villain, Gordon Gekko. Mulligan will also be starring alongside Shia Labeoug, her real-life boyfriend.Another one of Mulligan’s upcoming films is the Drama Thriller, Never Let Me Go. Playing the role of Kathy, Mulligan will star alongside of fellow, British star, Keira Knightley. This film is written by Alex Garland and based on the novel by Kazuo Ishiguro.Mulligan may not be a household name yet, but if she keeps turning out big roles with performances of the caliber we saw in An Education, she could be on her way.

The global population of teenage females is divided in a bitter battle: Team Edward vs. Team Jacob. The Twilight Saga that has gripped the nation came back to focus this summer with the release of the third motion picture, Eclipse. Big expectations preceded this premiere as New Moon, ranked on the top 50 list of highest grossing films of all time. The midnight release of this epic saga was packed with screaming adolescents. Consider this a warning to the faint of heart. The latest in this series chronicles the return of Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) from his self-exile. Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) life seems to be back to normal, apart from the fact that she’s in love with a vampire, until she realizes that her pending decision of becoming a vampire or remaining a mortal is threatening to unleash an all out war between werewolves and vampires. On top of a revenge-seeking vampire threatening her life, her knowledge of the existence of this immortal world is putting her at odds with the vampire “powers that be.” In addition to the sappy love story and the humanization of mythical creatures, this movie is full of beautiful people. The pale and mysterious Robert Pattinson, with his famous unkempt hairdo, and the buff, bronze Taylor Lautner are plenty to feast your eyes on. The female stars of this movie give us plenty to talk about as well. Kristen Stewart, Anna Kendrick and Ashley Greene all add to this aesthetically pleasing film.Despite its reputation for buying a chick drama and an overwhelmingly female fan base, there’s a good chance the male population might find more use for this film than they think. Impressive graphics used to portray werewolf transformations and vicious vampire battles offer something for the guys too.

The last year of the 2000′s was a memorable one when it comes to Hollywood hits. 2009 witnessed a number of record-breaking films, including Avatar, which set the record for the highest grossing film of all time. This year was full of note-worthy animated films, enough that we could fill the entire top 10 with just that genre. But to give a bit more variety for the enjoyment of all our readers, we included a range of genres. Take a look at our favorite films of 2009 and see which blockbusters you still need to see.

Avatar: Some will say its clich to give this film the top spot, but frankly, it deserves it. The impressive 3D effects, and revolutionary stereoscopic filming makes this movie not only a heartwarming tale, but technologically brilliant. The 9 Academy Award nominations and 3 wins along with its highest grossing record, confirm the greatness of this film.

Up: This is the touching story of an old man who loses his wife and attempts to avoid going to a nursing home by tying balloons to his house and floating away, only to find a little boy hiding inside his, now airborne, home. You’re sure to enjoy the adventures of these two, and you’ll be surprised at just how moving an animated film can be.

The Blindside: If it weren’t based on a true story, this film might be lower on our list. But between the heartwarming re-telling of the generosity of one Tennessee family and Sandra Bullock’s stellar performance, this film definitely earns a mention.

Harry potter and the Half-Blood Prince: The 6th movie in the Harry Potter series brought another highly acclaimed performance. These films only seem to get better as the actors mature and become even more talented. Chances are you’ll see the last 2 Harry Potter movies on one of our “best of” lists by the time it’s all said and done.

Where the Wild Things Are: This movie version of Maurice Sendak’s beloved childhood novel truly brought to life the mischievous adventures of Max. A perfect picture of the incredible imagination of a child.

The Hangover: The hysterical chronicle of a bachelor weekend gone awry was not only one of the best movies of the year, but one of the funniest comedies of the decade. In addition to the overall success of the movie, this was a breakout performance for several up and coming funnymen, particularly Zach Galifianakis.

Inglorious Basterds: Quentin Tarantino’s historical thriller about a group of Jewish American soldiers who attempt to kill as many Nazis as brutally as possible, combines incredible acting with a fascinating storyline for an unforgettable movie.

It’s Complicated: A light hearted film about finding yourself and finding love at any age. With a star-studded cast, this film will have you in stitches and leave you with a smile on your face.

Invictus: Inspirational sports movies may be a dime a dozen, but this one is not only historically accurate but of worldwide significance. Standout performances by Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon make this 2009 film about Rugby and post-apartheid South Africa a must-see.

Drag Me to Hell: After denying a woman a loan, Christine Brown ( Alison Lohman) is cursed and haunted by a demon with only a few days before she’s sentenced to hell. A quality horror flick that is both fun and terrifying.
