Rodrigo Corts Could Be the Next Alfred Hitchcock
Rodrigo Corts could easily be the next great suspense writer and director, following in the footsteps of the legendary Alfred Hitchcock. He is young and multi-talented, bring a fresh perspective to Hollywood and the horror / suspense genre.
Born in 1973 in Spain, Corts made his first big splash in the American movie scene with the full-length feature film Buried, starting Ryan Reynolds. Previous work includes a number of Spanish movies, including the full-length film The Contestant (Concursante, original Spanish title). He has also notably written and directed a number of shorts, including Yul, 15 Days, Dentro, and Dirt Devil.
Corts has been met with critical acclaim, having been nominated and winning a number of awards for both his short films and full-length films. In 1999 Yul won Best Short Film at the Pescola Comedy Film Festival. 15 Days, in 2000, won at two at two festivals, the Alcal de Henares Short Film Festival and Ourense Independent Film Festival. The Contestant won the Critics Award in 2007 at the Mlaga Spanish Film Festival.
His next psychological thriller, Red Lights, which stars Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver, is currently in post production and is set to be released in 2012.
