Another Hit for Pixar
Toy Story 3 came to theaters this summer, breaking the record for the largest single day gross for an animated film. This movie also broke Pixar‘s own impressive record for highest opening weekend. In the third Toy Story movie, Andy is now grown up and about to leave for college. Thinking he no longer wants them, his mom puts his toys in a garbage bag at the street, who then make their way to Sunnyside daycare. Woody is the only toy Andy intends to take with him to college but tries to warn the other toys that they weren’t meant to be sent away. A number of plot twists including toy dictators, a misplaced Woody, but an ultimately happy ending make this another success in the Toy Story Saga. Most of the roles were voiced by the same actors as the previous film such as Tom Hanks, playing Woody, Tim Allen, playing Buzz, and Joan Cusack, playing Jessie. Toy Story 3 was directed by Lee Unkrich, different from Toy Story 2. However, John Lasseter remained one of the writers, continuing his role from the first two films. The original Toy Story, released in 1995, was the highest grossing film of that year. Additionally, Pixar is one of the most critically acclaimed film studios in the world. Pixar, now owned by Disney, has produced 11 feature films, five of which have won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Four of Pixar’s films are ranked in the list of top 50 highest grossing films worldwide.A strong showing at the box office suggests that this animated film will likely follow in the enormous footsteps of its predecessor, and if you liked the first two Toy Story films, you’re guaranteed to love this one.
